My cigar-cutter

I have just found out that my saxophone - a Selmer Cigar Cutter - has just passed its 70th birthday.

The Selmer web site includes a Serial Number History showing which saxophones were made when. Mine is number 17602 - making it a 1933 model - the last year of production of the Cigar Cutter before Selmer released the Radio Improved model. Cigar Cutter is a nickname it was given due to the shape of the octave mechanism.

I have owned it for the last 20 years of its 70 year lifespan. Knowing some of the scenes it has witnessed in the last 20 years ... if only saxophones could talk..
